A shock
In every
Bite
Month: June 2019
Argonaut
You make me nervous
To the point
My heart skips
A beat
I’m tired of
Fighting this
Feeling anymore
Like the ocean tide–
I can’t resist
Being dragged
Ashore
Rescued
Does an
Act of kindness
Make us friends?
Black belt
You always
Like horseplay
In your words
And all I want
Is to know you
No holds barred
Why do you make me
Think on my feet
Even after
You won the match?
Adopted
I first met you
Years ago then
Carried
My heavy heart
For just as long
Thereafter
Trash bin
I don’t know
Where you are now
And wonder if
You ever think of me
Because every so often
I read those few
Messages you sent
And it seemed like
I just got them–
Thoughtful surprises
That still make me
Wonder why
Infrared
There’s a reason
Why we’re only
Meant to see
Certain things
Action figure
I can drop a piece of ordnance
Within a keyhole sized area
But don’t know how to place
The words to bridge the gap
Between us
I can whisper the catchphrase
That ends the world
But don’t know the sentence
That resets everything
Between you and me
I can sprint the distance
Between shadows
Such that I remain unseen
To both electronic and human eyes
But that’s no use to me
Because you always know
Where to look for me
My heart on my sleeve
Detectable only by you
The job means I need to know
What everybody else doesn’t know
Every strength and weakness
Every access point
In order to bend things to my will
Or break things that refuse to play along
But I can never understand why in those
Few quiet moments before the bending and breaking
I’ll always think about you
Newborn
Loudest voice
In the room
Paranoid android
Everytime I
Hear your voice
Something grabs
My heart and
I don’t want to
Feel that way
Anymore
When you laugh
I’m on a rollercoaster
That won’t stop
When you tease me
I calculate the ways
Of how I got here
Too late and missed
The point in your life when
I would’ve been
More than a novelty
And when you stomp around
Because things aren’t
Going your way
I want to give
You a great big hug but
I can’t because that’s
Not a gift you would’ve
Welcomed coming from me
