Overactive

They say I have an overactive imagination
Because even though
I don’t know
You or the details of your life
I can still imagine the great heights
Of emotions those who care about you feel
When the precious moments they can steal
Despite the daily grind–

I can imagine their fond recognition
When you call from the crowd during intermission
That they will do better when the game resumes–

I can see tired faces ignite
Burning with smiles of delight
When Daddy finally returns home from deployment–

I can hear their tiny voice
As you put them in the child seat though not their choice
Then they say “Mama I wanna sit with you–”

I can almost feel the bounce in their step
As your spouse realizes their heart is being swept
When holding your hand and remembering when they first knew–

Yes, I have an overactive imagination
To the point I get carried away
Injecting emotions into the moments of the everyday
Ordinary lives my utter fascination
