Reading the blitz

Why am I like this?
I hate feeling this way
I need to stay in place
Even though I want to run away
But it’s so hard to show up
When there’s nowhere else to go
Am I worthy of the present moment
When the past ones
Supposedly don’t matter though?
There’s something about the here and now
Familiar foreboding and intense deja vu
Circumstances dismiss discernment intellect may allow
Things change but somehow aren’t really brand new–
Now is the time
That the vicious cycle provided by rhyme
Comes to a conclusion that dispels all illusion
That I am supposed to be here
Trapped by your expectations
Entangled by potential manifestations
Of better tomorrows based on today may appear
I am tongue tied
Too much thinking my brain is fried
I can’t stand it anymore–
I’m getting the ref’s attention
And calling timeout
